In January 2010, the inaugural National Placement & Internship Awards took place at Oxford Brookes University. The Awards, sponsored by PricewaterhouseCoopers, were attended by over 100 representatives from employers and universities.

After months of planning, organisation and hard work, the first ever National Placement & Internship Awards took place at Oxford Brookes University on January 21st 2010. We were delighted to welcome over a hundred guests from a wide range of organisations and employers.

Lunch allowed some time for our guests to do some networking before heading into the auditorium for the main event. Our guest speaker was Chris Lomas of Naked Generations, and he took to the floor to give the audience some fantastic insights into Gen-Y and ‘Generation Mapping’.

Once Chris had concluded, we moved onto the presentations, and despite Oliver managing to knock a glass of water over the trophies, the main event went incredibly well.

For the other Awards categories, an independent judging panel met on the 16th December 2009 at Oxford Brookes University to assess the shortlisted finalists in each category based on their individual submissions, entries, nominations and any relevant reviews. The judging panel was chaired by our very own Ali Lindsay and consisted of:

  • Gareth Cadwallader – Small-business adviser / Thames Valley University Governor
  • Chris Cooper – Dean of Oxford Brookes University Business School
  • Richard Irwin – Senior Consultant, Recruitment Centre of Excellence, PricewaterhouseCoopers
  • Abeiku Sarbah – President of Oxford Brookes University Students Union

Many thanks once again to the judges for giving up their time and helping us select our winners.
